Have to give them 5 stars, if it’s only for offering a ride on a Hampshire DEMU, all the way up there in the dales. Let’s hope they fulfill their ambition to reach Appleby and to connect with the famous Settle-Carlisle route, which would doubtless bring more custom and allow them to further expand. Top marks for magnetic totemage and real card ticket.

My self ,my.girlfriend, our boy and my mum visited this railway during a stay in cumbria this month,we found the railway friendly, well.presemted, they had a lovely model railway display which was very nicely done with a couple well detailed layouts with a variety of trains running around, ,the train ride was short and sweet,it was a lovely old dmu that ran the service that day, think it was one of the old the communter specials that used to ferry the workers to offices in the capital in the 70.s and 80.s,there is a poor old diesel engine parked in a siding, hopefully it will be restored soon,I recommend going there and seeing and enjoying the railway for what it is,which is a small railway trying to make its way in the world ,

Really enjoyed my train trip and being a driver for a £5. The railway is well worth a visit. Warm welcome from the volunteer staff.

The EVR has so much potential and a real treat if you have an interest in Southern Region rolling stock. The volunteers took the time to talk especially the gaurd of the main train and the crew of the Driver for a Fiver loco. Thank you for a great afternoon out.

This was our first visit. We really enjoyed our time spent at the EVR. Everyone we met were so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The train ride was wonderful. It would be brilliant to see it eventually reach it aspired destination. Driver experience for £5 is a must. It was so enjoyable to do. No experience is required. There is a cafe selling drinks and snacks, though limited for a reason. There is also the model railway layouts, a book / emporium, and a signal box to visit.

This small railway is well worth a visit. We’ll be visiting again.

Had a fabulous few hours, travelled on their diesel train and were shown it’s massive engine then drove one of their diesel shunters. Volunteers could not have been more helpful. One of the lesser known railways and deserves more recognition

Really enjoyable and charming little preserved railway. Staff were all very friendly, a lot of interest for me personally regarding locomotives and D/EMU’s. The Thumper was superb, had a run up the line and back. Plans are in the pipeline to extend the line to Appleby, which will be superb for the railway regarding accessibility, for the time being, it is a car journey away. Can see a lot of potential in this railway for the enthusiasts in the not too distant future, would be great behind a diesel locomotive. Set in beautiful surroudings. Top marks to all at Eden Valley👍

Railway run by volunteers no full time staff. Set in beautiful surroundings. Ride on a train for about two and half miles there and back. Then have a go at driving a train. Tea and coffee and have a look around. This line was used for passenger and goods traffic before the Ministry of Defence used the line to transport tanks , personal and other equipment for practice on the firing range over looking the station. I am sure you will enjoy your visit. Keith

Brilliant heritage railway with trains running weekends and bank holidays. Nice cafeteria and model railway display also large emporium selling books CDs and railway memerobilia. Only short length of track running at present but they hope to extend through to Appleby eventually. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Well worth a visit.

Visited this small railway today on the way back from a holiday in the lakes as our eldest son loves trains. Very friendly staff and as we were the only ones on the first train of the day the guard gave us a commentary of the railway as we travelled along. A couple of nice model railways as well as a shop full of second hand books and dvds etc The highlight for our son though was the driver for a fiver which he loved doing and as he was the first one of the day got to start the engine as well. If they could get a route through into Appleby then it would transform this railway but at the moment is good for a half day out and hopefully they will be able to extend.

Great value for money, only £5 for locomotive experience- my nephew was the happiest boy on the planet.
